Education
Program

Education is the key to breaking the cycle of poverty and violence.

Two out of three Mexican students fail to reach minimum proficiency in mathematics, while nearly half fall short in science and reading.

Mexico ranks first in school bullying among OECD countries.

Mexico's Low Scores in Math, Science, and Reading

Following the pandemic, Mexico saw significant learning losses like other nations. According to results from the Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA), our country scored low in three assessment areas: mathematics, science, and reading. Additionally, rising violence has deteriorated learning environments, widening educational gaps.

To address this, we have two projects to strengthen academic curricula and promote peace education:

  • STEM Labs by Creando Asombro A.C.
  • PEACE Project by Proyecto PAZ

STEM Labs

Project-based interdisciplinary learning promotes knowledge acquisition, creativity and innovation. It fosters healthy coexistence through hands-on experiences and human connections, recognizing and respecting diversity.

The student-centered approach empowers learners as protagonists of their education, where they:

PEACE Project

Tools for conflict resolution

Increasing violence in all environments directly impacts children’s learning and emotional development. Our program doesn’t just reinforce knowledge – it teaches peaceful conflict resolution through:

Through peace circles or group assemblies, we create safe school spaces of responsibility and respect that promote dialogue, agreement-building, and recognition of human rights and collaborative work.

These assemblies have been an opportunity to see one another, listen, and build community. The ability to address and resolve matters together has allowed them to understand the capacity they have as a community to ensure their wellbeing, and the potential we humans have to use and value dialogue as the best tool to address conflicts.

Literacy Program

There is no more powerful tool than the written word.

Confident that children are intelligent, active agents capable of changing their environment, we partner with Fundación Zorro Rojo and the SEP Regional Subdirectorate to implement the Leer con las orejas (“Reading with Ears”) program across 23 preschools in the region.

Soon we will launch an early childhood and youth literacy initiative – through teacher training – focused on:

Additionally, we collaborate with Fundación Enseña por México on Jugando juntos (“Playing Together”), a program supporting primary caregivers at three preschools in beneficiary communities.
