Education: Mexico has the highest school dropout rate (ages 15-18) among OECD countries. According to the 2022 PISA test, it ranks last in math (81/81) and low in reading (63/81). Preventing school dropouts saves $1.2 billion USD annually and increases individual earnings (+8.5% per year of schooling) (MEJOREDU, 2023; World Bank, 2022).
Music: 9 out of 10 students in rural schools in Mexico lack access to music classes and have never played an instrument (INBA, 2022). Only 12% of public schools offer formal arts education (SEP, 2023).
